Festus Ezeli Stuffs Blake Griffin

+

Blake Griffin is really good at dunking. He's a former NBA Dunk Contest winner. Unfortunately for him, Festus Ezeli is not a car. Festus is a man, and he does not want to be posterized. Get some popcorn and watch this on repeat.

Questionable calls and ejections: Week 8

1

SDS mentioned how awful the officiating was in our game against Missouri, but naturally they weren't going to let that result in actually, you know, filling an article with material about Vanderbilt. They could've posted an article about it, but instead they'll just deign to not exclude us entirely. We could’ve posted an entire article on the Vandy-Mizzou game, which seemed to feature more blown calls and replay reviews than it did points. But we know that’s a game that most of you would like to pretend never happened. Except you, real-life Vanderbilt fan. We know you’re enjoying your first SEC win since James Franklin jilted you in favor of Penn State. So, for your sake, we’ll include one from your game.

Vandy MBB to scrimmage Virginia and @UNC

+

Per Fran Fraschilla--by way of AoG's Twitter feed--the 'Dores will take on ACC powerhouses Virginia (in Memorial) and North Carolina (in Chapel Hill) in preseason play. Maybe it's just me, but seeing Stallings go for this kind of seasoning tells me that he is /very/ confident in the ceiling of this team.

TSK: Commodores Positioned to Play SEC East Spoiler

Our sister site Team Speed Kills has an excellent piece up today about how Vanderbilt's defense puts us in the position to win a lot more games than people expect. As a reminder, TSK is the SBN site that covers SEC sports. Please remember to read their rules of conduct before contributing to the conversation there, their rules are different from ours!

OBC,Steve Spurrier announces immediate retirement

33

In the midst of a disappointing and tumultuous season, the Ol' Ball Coach announces he will be retiring effective immediately. With the Vandy/USC game coming up this weekend, the Gamecocks will have to scramble to announce an interim coach. Conflicting reports indicate a coach will be named as early as tomorrow or as late as Wednesday. After the late announcement of the USCw coach Steve Sarkisian being terminated, this means there are 5 positions open in the FBS: USCe, USCw, Ill, Maryland and N. Texas.

Saturdays Down South's Idea of a Throwback

3

Gotta love the respect we get from SEC media sites. On top of basically ignoring us for the majority of the year, their idea of a #ThrowbackThursday article is to highlight Vandy's losses to MTSU. Now, credit where it's due: their score predictions have us winning this weekend, though several of their commentariat do not. Still, not exactly a ringing endorsement of support for their fellow SEC team here in a game we should win.
