US Pull Ahead in Friday Fourball, Snedeker and Furyk to Anchor(Down) Saturday Foursomes Rematch

After sitting out an afternoon session in which the US won 3 of 4 fourball (best ball) matches to go up 5-3 overall, Brandt Snedeker will be back on the course in the fourth and final foursome (alternate shot) match.

This final foursome of the day will be a rematch of the first foursome yesterday, with Sneds partnered with Jim Furyk and battling Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy and Graham McDowell.

Yesterday, Brandt and Furyk took an early lead winning the second hole on a putt by Sneds, and Furyk just missed a birdie to go up 2. But the fellas with the accents went on a run hitting some great shots to go up by 3 holes. Sneds and Furyk fought back winning three of four holes to pull all square, before losing on 18 when Sneds drive missed badly eventually setting up Furyk for a long putt to tie the match that missed wide.

Quite frankly, I'd have liked to see Sneds play with someone other than Furyk (who is now 8-16-4 all-time in the Ryder Cup), but Furyk and Sneds are a solid style match, and Furyk's is much better in foursome than fourball for his career.

I'd love to see Sneds in fourball with his ability to get lots of birdies with his putter (and because honestly fourball is more fun), but I doubt that will be happening unless he just goes off this morning.
