It’s no longer the holidays and I'm no longer sick and this game should be competitive. Merry Conference Play. Anchor Down. This is a perfect game for us to take stock of the team after an easy back half of out-of-conference play. Mississippi State has a similar record and is seen as just about even to us in the eyes of the polls and the bracketologists. The best sign pointing towards a Vanderbilt victory is that we beat Kennesaw State in our matchup by 47, which was 6 more than Mississippi State beat them by. Reading through what Athletics has to say, you will certainly see just how special this start to the season has been, and we have looked better every game as the old players have shaken off any rust (specifically talking about those that were previously injured) and the new players have developed into members of the team. The big issue I am noticing is that Mississippi State just scores more than we do. Sure, our defense will be much better than most of what the Bulldogs have faced this season, but their offense will also be better than most of what we have faced this season. However, I do not think we have seen all that this team can do quite yet. We have only seen the Commodores face off against one clearly good team, and as I mentioned, they have consistently been improving. Tonight would be an excellent time to showcase just how far this team has come while marching through out-of-conference play this season.
