Today’s matchup counts in the SEC standings for reasons that have never been entirely explained, but more importantly, this is the annual matchup of Woody Widenhofer’s two former employers. Weirdly, Vanderbilt seems to claim him harder than Missouri does in spite of the fact that Woody was a Missouri alum, probably because winning 12 games in four years is an embarrassment for Missouri while winning 15 games in five years at Vanderbilt is basically par for the course.

Okay, okay, but we did have fun and we did expect to win.

Last year, Vanderbilt dug itself a 17-0 hole, AJ Swann got pulled for Mike Wright due to injury, and Wright nearly got Vanderbilt back but ended up losing 17-14. This time around, Swann isn’t starting but is available, per Pete Thamel:
