Good morning.

Optional Musical Accompaniment

We are now 38 days away from Vanderbilt football’s season opener against Hawaii. Two players on the roster wear 38; first, there’s defensive back Jalen Gilbert. The 6’0”, 181-pound freshman from Round Rock, Texas, was ranked as a three-star prospect. Redshirt freshman kicker Will Faris saw his first action in the Hawaii game, scoring on an extra point.

It was Clark Lea’s turn at SEC Media Days yesterday morning, and as Gentry Estes wrote at the Tennessean, he’s still saying “what Vanderbilt coaches aren’t supposed to say”:

“Vanderbilt football pursues success at the highest level,” Lea said in his opening statement, “and we will not back down from our mission to build the best college football program in the nation.”
