We’re still in the portion of the pick ‘em contest where the maximum points available still matters quite a bit: some folks have banked a lot of points by burning their high-confidence picks while having relatively few remaining on the board, while others have solid records but low point totals because their high-confidence picks are still outstanding.

Oh, and we’re also here to point out... the bowl mascot for yesterday’s Military Bowl presented by GoBowling.com.

Today, we’re at the portion of bowl season that is Goofy Bowl Games in Baseball Stadiums and For Some Fucking Reason Another Bowl in Orlando.

Fenway Bowl: SMU vs. Boston College (10:00 AM CT, ESPN/ESPN+): This is for all intents and purposes a home game for Boston College, which simply does not matter to the oddsmakers who have SMU as a heavy favorite. Also: this will be a conference game next season, in case you were wondering whether the Rubicon of Stupid had been crossed in conference realignment.

Pinstripe Bowl: Rutgers vs. Miami (1:15 PM CT, ESPN/ESPN+): On the other hand, this would have been a conference game circa 2002. It would not have been a competitive game circa 2002, of course, but that’s where Miami football is in 2023.

Pop-Tarts Bowl: NC State vs. Kansas State (4:45 PM CT, ESPN/ESPN+): This sounds like an actual good bowl game, which makes you wonder why it’s like the fourth bowl game to be played in Orlando.

Alamo Bowl: Arizona vs. Oklahoma (8:15 PM CT, ESPN/ESPN+): This, somehow, will not be a conference game in 2024, what with Oklahoma fleeing the Big 12 before Arizona joins. Oklahoma’s starting quarterback is an opt-out, which is probably why Arizona is a favorite.
