Anchor Drop, July 6, 2022: 52 Days to Kickoff

We are 52 days away from Vanderbilt football’s season opener at Hawaii. 52 for the Commodores is offensive lineman Trent Weaver. The 6’3”, 299-pound redshirt sophomore from St. Louis hasn’t appeared in a game in two years in the program.

Sometimes I wonder how much of this realignment speculation is real versus how much of it is bored sportswriters who are waiting for even media days to happen, much less actual football games. Yesterday we got Dennis Dodd reporting that the Big 12 is trying to add multiple Pac-12 programs, and that the ACC and Pac-12 are discussing some sort of “loose partnership” (possibly an “alliance?”)

Oh, I’m not sure why we’re doing this again. But I’m also not sure why UCLA and USC would want to join the Big Ten. This is just the slow season.
