Anchor Drop, September 8, 2021: Fixing the offense

Vanderbilt has handed playcalling duties to Joey Lynch.

Good morning.

The big news coming out of Clark Lea’s press conference yesterday is that offensive coordinator David Raih has apparently been demoted, and quarterbacks coach Joey Lynch will take over playcalling duties. This move was apparently made in fall camp, but Lea announced it in response to a question from Robbie Weinstein.

I don’t know what to think of this. When the hires were announced, I was wondering why Lynch — who was previously the offensive coordinator at Ball State and Colorado State — was not simply made the offensive coordinator from the jump, and it seems like Clark Lea has come to that conclusion as well.

In other news, Ben Bresnahan is out this Saturday. The Hustler has notes on yesterday’s press conference as well, and Robbie Weinstein writes that the focus this week is on fixing the offense that managed just three points against ETSU on Saturday.

The Hustler recaps men’s golf’s performance at the Carmel Cup over the weekend.

Women’s tennis has two doubles teams ranked in the top 50 nationally.
