Good morning.
Optional Musical Accompaniment
We are 1 day away from Vanderbilt football’s season opener against East Tennessee State. 1 for the Commodores is linebacker Elijah McAllister. The 6’6”, 261-pound redshirt junior from Rumson, New Jersey, missed the 2020 season due to injury, but played in 12 games in 2019 and notched 26 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. He’s listed as the first-string defensive end for Saturday’s game.
And, here’s Clark Lea previewing Saturday’s game:
The Hustler’s Andy Carr has three matchups to watch on Saturday, And, here’s a story about new running back Re’Mahn Davis’s struggle with homelessness growing up in San Francisco.
Soccer had an easy one on Thursday night, easing past Southern Illinois 5-0 to end a two-game losing streak.
Men’s golf opens its season this weekend, starting today at 9:10 AM CT in the Carmel Cup at Pebble Beach. Also opening the season: cross country, at the Mizzou Opener in Columbia, Missouri.
Men’s basketball released its nonconference schedule on Thursday. The schedule looks... fun? Not boring at all? Like Jerry Stackhouse maybe wants to impress the Selection Committee? (Remember when nonconference strength of schedule was something we concerned ourselves with?)
