Saturday Predictions: Georgia at Vanderbilt

Welp... let’s get our thoughts down about this impending bloodbath.

Vandy vs. Georgia death rabbits

Well, we looked pretty good for a few minutes there, and then a mediocre Stansbury team whipped the ever-loving crap out of us.

Anyway, what do our writers think about Vanderbilt’s chances against #2 Georgia?

The Pick: Georgia 55 - Vanderbilt 3. It’s okay to DVR this one and then during game time, go do something, anything, else.

The SEC Upset Pick of the Week: ARKY over aTm. Whoooooo Pig Grode Jar!

Tom Stephenson

So through three games against teams that are better than Vanderbilt, Georgia has won by scores of 10-3, 56-7, and 40-13. They’re strong in the run game and the pass game, and their defense is quite likely the best in the country, having surrendered just a single offensive touchdown (and that was when it was 40-6 in the fourth quarter; that may not have even been the first string defense that gave up that touchdown.)

The question then is not whether Vanderbilt will beat Georgia, because that would be ridiculous. The question is whether Vanderbilt will score a point.

The Pick: Georgia 35, Vanderbilt 3

The SEC Upset Pick of the Week: A couple of tempting choices this week, but I will go with BOSTON COLLEGE (+1.5) to not recognize Missourah.

Georgia is terrifying on defense. They racked up 7 sacks against Clemson. Opponents have averaged 221 yards of offense. The Vanderbilt offense has shown some sporadic flashes, but UGA is approximately 10000x better than anyone they have faced yet. We probably do mount at least one drive, possibly turnover aided, for a FG before the Georgia starters exit.

Vanderbilt struggled to cover Colorado State's Trey McBride early then late in the 4th. Brock Bowers is the elite version of McBride. If they do not have a game plan (and execute it) for him, the score will get more towards Andrew's prediction. Their rushing attack also averages over 5 yards per carry on true rushing plays. Our best hope is that the defense does enough to make them earn the yardage as opposed to looking like a squad of matadors.

The Pick: Georgia 41, Vanderbilt 10

The SEC Upset Pick of the Week: Andrew cheated and took a SWC game, so I'm taking an ACC-Big 8 matchup. BC beats Misery.

Not much else to say about this one. My prediction is pain. Even at full strength we’re at a sizeable disadvantage, and we are not at full strength. Sorry y’all, it won’t be pretty.

The Pick: Georgia 51 Vandy 7

The SEC Upset Pick of the Week: Clanga beats LSU at home.

Come visit Nashville for the weekend, they said. Don’t sell your tickets to the game, they said. I’ll be in town to catch my first game at Dudley in two years, and I don’t think I could have picked a worse one. The 11am kickoff will catch UGA off guard as Vandy recovers a fumble to get a 3-0 lead. Before I can take a picture of the scoreboard to send my friends, however, UGA begins and sustains its merciless attack on our ‘Dores as I reminisce on my college days.

The Pick: UGA 56 Vandy 3

The SEC Upset Pick of the Week: Arkansas beats A&M at home, giving us a good storyline for another week that the SEC has another CFP threat that’s not named UGA or Bama.
