Vanderbilt soccer plays tonight and DotP will have your game thread up in a bit. For those of you more interested in watching the first of five straight days of college football (as we do on opening weekend, since the NFL isn’t starting until next weekend), well, we have a schedule for you.
Temple at Rutgers (5:30 PM CT, BTN)
Getting Week 1 started with a real barn-burner, I see.
Boise State at UCF (6:00 PM CT, ESPN)
Huh, did you guys remember that Gus Malzahn is now the head coach at UCF? Yeah, that’s something that happened over the offseason. Anyway, this should be entertaining.
Tennessee Tech at Samford (6:00 PM CT, ESPN+)
For the most part, I’m going to let you find the ESPN+ and streaming games on your own, but I’ll go ahead and list the Tennessee FCS teams out on here.
West Georgia at Carson-Newman (6:00 PM CT, stream)
THE PEOPLE DEMAND DIVISION II FOOTBALL.
Kentucky Christian at Cumberlands (6:00 PM CT, stream)
Yeah, I am randomly throwing in an NAIA game, deal with it.
Appalachian State vs. East Carolina (6:30 PM CT, ESPNU, in Charlotte)
You know, I really hate the neutral-site games, but I especially hate them when it’s a couple of Group of 5 teams that would normally have a great atmosphere on campus. Instead, this will be played in a mostly-empty NFL stadium, probably because television.
South Florida at NC State (6:30 PM CT, ACC Network)
South Florida isn’t very good these days, so this probably won’t be a good one. I just wanted to take the time to point out that NC State passed a rule requiring their entire travel party for athletics to be vaccinated. I have no idea what would have caused them to do this.
Weber State at Utah (6:30 PM CT, Pac-12 Network)
Sure.
Austin Peay at Chattanooga (6:30 PM CT, ESPN+)
Hey! A couple of Tennessee FCS teams, playing each other on a Thursday night.
Bowling Green at Tennessee (7:00 PM CT, SEC Network)
For the record, Bowling Green is terrible, so Josh Heupel should start his tenure with a win. But if your morbid curiosity wants to watch the Vols fart around for three quarters, go for it.
Ohio State at Minnesota (7:00 PM CT, FOX)
I guess this is the marquee game of opening night?
UT-Martin at Western Kentucky (7:00 PM CT, ESPN+)
No, this is the marquee game of opening night.
Sam Houston State at Northern Arizona (8:00 PM CT, ESPN+)
If you’re interested in staying up late, this might be the best game in the later-ish window, which will become clear when you see these next two.
Eastern Washington at UNLV (9:00 PM CT, Stadium)
Uhhhhh... sure.
Southern Utah at Arizona State (9:30 PM CT, Pac-12 Network)
Yeah, the Pac-12 Network is showing back-to-back games involving Utah and Arizona State playing FCS teams. I don’t know.
