Anchor Drop, September 15, 2021: Fall baseball announced

Also: women’s golf comes in seventh at the Cougar Classic.

NCAA Baseball: College World Series-Mississippi State v Vanderbilt Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning.

Optional Musical Accompaniment

Vanderbilt baseball announced its fall schedule, which will include exhibition games against North Carolina and Richmond on October 15 and 16 (both in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area), followed by the annual Black and Gold Series, which is tentatively scheduled for October 22-24. The Commodores open fall training tomorrow. Andrew can probably tell you more about whether we’re going to compete for another national title in 2022, as soon as he is finished with the player report cards.

Women’s golf came in seventh at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, with Auston Kim shooting 7-under par in the 54-hole event to finish in a tie for fourth in the individual competition. Virginie Ding finished 1-under and in a tie for 19th; Ariel Yu (T-36), Tess Davenport (T-60), and Jayna Choi (93rd) were the other Commodore competitors.

The Hustler previews the men’s tennis team, which is coming off a rough season.

And finally, Stanford coach David Shaw woke up yesterday morning and chose violence.

I mean, he’s not wrong. But also, does he want this to turn into a full-on Nerd Fight?
