Friday Night College Football Schedule and Open Thread

Rolling into the weekend.

It’s Friday night, and everyone’s favorite Vanderbilt football head coaching candidate is on television. Here’s your schedule for this evening:

6:30 PM CT: Kansas at Coastal Carolina (ESPN2)

Kansas beat FCS South Dakota 17-14 last week, and then this happened.

Vanderbilt would never.

Anyway, Vanderbilt considered hiring Coastal Carolina head coach Jamey Chadwell after last season, then decided to go with Clark Lea instead, a decision that I am sure nobody involved will ever regret. Coastal is favored by 29 points.

North Carolina A&T at Duke (7:00 PM CT, ACC Network)

What are you still doing here, David Cutcliffe?

North Dakota at Utah State (8:00 PM CT, CBS Sports Network)

Utah State is surprisingly 1-0 after going into Pullman and handing Washington State an L last week. That means the Aggies have already matched their win total from all of last season, and they should be able to double it against the FCS Fighting Hawks, who are not to be confused with North Dakota State.

UTEP at Boise State (8:30 PM CT, FS1)

Speaking of which, UTEP is 2-0! The Miners have equaled their win total from 2017-19 in just two weeks. It’s also the first time since 2005 that UTEP has won its first two games of the season. That said, Boise State is a pretty big step up from New Mexico State and Bethune-Cookman. Geez, this Friday night slate kind of sucks. I even tried to find all of you some NAIA game to stream and... nope, there isn’t one.
