We are 3 days away from Vanderbilt football’s season opener against East Tennessee State. 3 for the Commodores is defensive back Dashaun Jerkins. The 6’0”, 200-pound redshirt junior from Woodbridge, Virginia, has started fifteen games at safety over the last two seasons and is listed as a starter for the season opener.

Clark Lea had his season-opening press conference yesterday and named his starting quarterback, surprising no one by picking incumbent Ken Seals, though he did mention that backup Mike Wright will play at some point.

Yesterday was final roster cutdown day in the NFL, and in a bit of a surprise, former Vanderbilt linebacker Andre Mintze has made the Denver Broncos’ 53-man roster. We’ll have a full look at Vanderbilt players on NFL rosters, probably next week.
