We’re down to 23 days until Vanderbilt football’s season opener against ETSU. 23 for the Commodores is cornerback Jaylen Mahoney. The 5’11”, 191-pound junior from Rock Hill, South Carolina, surprisingly broke into the cornerback rotation as a true freshman and started eight games as a sophomore, notching 57 tackles, good for second on the team.

Three Vanderbilt golfers — senior Harrison Ott, sophomore Cole Sherwood, and incoming freshman Gordon Sargent — advanced to match play at the U.S. Amateur at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania. You can follow along here.

Another day, another football practice. Clark Lea addressed some things with the media after practice, including the quarterback situation. Again, I don’t want to say out loud that the “competition” isn’t real, but I will be extremely surprised if Ken Seals is not the starter after what we saw from him and Mike Wright last season.

And finally, Vanderbilt officially announced the annual Dore Jam, which will be held on Saturday, August 21, from 3-5 PM.
