Gonzo had to fight for playing time, and was not even on the team last year. Rather than complain and/or put his name in the transfer portal, Gonzo simply worked harder, and was rewarded by being drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 17th round. Beyond that, they valued his still not completely tapped power potential, rewarding him with the highest amount a post 10th rounder can get without it cutting into the team’s bonus pool.
Four @WhiteSox $125k bonuses. Terrell Tatum (16th), NC State OF, hit .317 w/12 HR. Jayson Gonzalez (17th), Vanderbilt 3B, hit .280 w/9 HR. Adam Hackenberg (18th), Clemson C, rough year, plus arm. Shawn Goosenberg (19th), Northwestern SS, .362/.426/.717 w/14 HR. @MLBDraft
