Nice.

Good morning.

Optional Musical Accompaniment

We are now 69 days (nice) away from Vanderbilt football’s September 4 season opener against East Tennessee State. 69 for the Commodores is offensive lineman Brayden Bapst. The 6’6”, 300-pound junior (redshirt sophomore) from Washington, D.C., played in seven games last season, though I don’t think he started any. (That’s Adam Butler in the header photo, by the way.)

And, the College World Series final is set. After Vanderbilt advanced on a no contest over a COVID-ravaged NC State team, Mississippi State advanced last night with a 4-3 win over Texas on a walk-off single in the bottom of the 9th. You knew it was going to be Vanderbilt and Mississippi State, didn’t you? Or, as CDA put it:

Yeah. Pretty much. Anyway, today’s a day off, with Game 1 tomorrow. I am almost positive that if Vanderbilt wins this, Mississippi State fans will not complain about Vanderbilt getting a day off on Saturday and leaving Jack Leiter available to start Game 1.
