Good morning.

Optional Musical Accompaniment

Today we are 94 days away from Vanderbilt football’s season opener against ETSU. 94 for Vanderbilt is defensive lineman Rutger Reitmaier. The 6’3”, 266-pound senior from nearby Lipscomb Academy was a solid contributor in 2019 but played in only five games in 2020, notching three tackles for the season.

The only real news on the Vanderbilt sports front is that the men’s golf team ended its season on Tuesday with a loss to Oklahoma State in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship. That’s a program that seems to be knocking on the door, winning both the SEC Championship and the Kingston Springs Regional this season, but has yet to break through and win a national title.

Stay tuned for more baseball content this week at Anchor of Gold in advance of this weekend’s regional, where the NCAA randomly gave us another SEC team, Indiana State again, and Tim Corbin’s former employer.
