Anchor Drop, June 19, 2021: 77 Days to Kickoff

Today marks 77 days — 11 weeks — from Vanderbilt football’s season opener against ETSU. There is no 77 for the Commodores (at least, not until freshmen are assigned numbers); the last player to wear the number for Vanderbilt is former offensive lineman Devin Cochran, who left as a graduate transfer after the 2019 season.

And, you probably know what today is. The College World Series opens at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, and after the opening game between Stanford and NC State (scheduled for 1 PM CT), Vanderbilt will take on Arizona at 6 PM CT. Both games will be televised on ESPN. We’re expecting Kumar Rocker to start for the Commodores tonight.

Anyway, that’s probably the one thing that will take me away from watching the U.S. Open all day. Have fun.
