Optional Musical Accompaniment
We are now 85 days away from Vanderbilt football’s season opener against ETSU. 85 for the Commodores is tight end Joel DeCoursey. The 6’4”, 245-pound junior (redshirt sophomore) from Zionsville, Indiana, was a three-star prospect out of high school and hasn’t seen the field in two years at Vanderbilt.
And, it’s Super Regional time. Vanderbilt opens the super regionals at the Hawk today at 11 AM CT against East Carolina, which swept the Greenville Regional last week over Norfolk State, Charlotte, and Maryland. The Pirates should be throwing ace Gavin Williams, who is an actual first- or second-round prospect in the MLB Draft as opposed to a mid-major soft-tosser. This should be fun, and you can catch today’s game on ESPN2.
...assuming the weather cooperates. The forecast calls for a chance of rain, albeit in the 20-30% rain, in the late morning and early afternoon hours in Nashville today.
In other baseball news, Kumar Rocker and Jack Leiter were named finalists for the Dick Howser Trophy, after both being named semifinalists for the Golden Spikes Award earlier this week.
Vanderbilt also made the addition of TCU transfer Terren Frank official.
The Other Super Regionals
Andrew has a game thread coming for Vanderbilt’s game, but following that, we have three more super regional games today, all on ESPNU.
2:00 PM CT: Lubbock Super Regional: Texas Tech vs. Stansbury
5:00 PM CT: Fayetteville Super Regional: Arkansas vs. NC State
8:00 PM CT: Tucson Super Regional: Arizona vs. Ole Miss
Have fun, everybody.
