Welcome to our annual whiskey rivalry mid-week match-up, as Vanderbilt makes the short trip to Louisville to BRING ME MAH BARREL!!!
2021 Record: 23-14 (14-9 ACC). Dan “Ronell” McDonnell’s squad of
foul-mouthed losers who go on tirades at Julian Chinfante for no discernible reason, and then we win the CWS Title anyway Cardinals is fresh off being swept by the Chicken Farmers over yonder by Clemson way—and two of those losses were blowouts. They’re a talented team with a really strong lineup, so what gives? Karma? Comeuppance? Have my prayers to the baseball gods been answered?
Eh... it’s likely just a rough spot. Here’s hoping it continues for at least one more game.
foul-mouthed losers who go on tirades at Julian Chinfante for no discernible reason, and then we win the CWS Title anyway Cardinals’ best wins this year have been taking 2 of 3 respectively from Florida State, Wake Forest, and Virginny; and sweeping Boston College and NC State. Of course, the last time they faced a SEC squad with multiple Vanderbilt players on the roster, they lost the series 2 games to 1 to Georgia Tech. Let’s hope that holds.
Players to Watch: #32 So. C Henry “Crash” Davis (.400/.520/.667 with 9 2B 0 3B 9 HR and 37 RBI) and #13 So. 3B Alex “Middle Aged Man” Binelas (.248/.343/.559 with 8 2B 2 3B 11 HR and 45 RBI). The former is on a year long heater and rocketing up draft boards; the latter is doing the opposite. Still, both are talented hitters who can do damage with a mistake pitch, so hit your spots, boys.
On The Mound
Let’s be honest... it’s a Johnny Wholestaff game for both teams. If I had to guess, I’d say that the Diamond Dores go with Fr. RHP Christian “The Answer” Little (2-0, 5.16 ERA), and piggy back him with So. RHP Thomas “The Mayor” Schultz (4-2, 4.62 ERA), even though he got a brief (and rough) bullpen stint this weekend.
As for the
foul-mouthed losers who go on tirades at Julian Chinfante for no discernible reason, and then we win the CWS Title anyway Cardinals, I’ll guess they start with So. LHP Carter “Willy” Lohman (1-1, 6.48 ERA).
See you in the comments (though again, probably only able to watch this on the ol’ DVR).
