Good morning.

Optional Musical Accompaniment

We are now 97 days away from Vanderbilt football’s season opener against ETSU. 97 is definitely a defensive lineman number (get at me, haters who think defensive linemen should wear single-digit numbers while freakin’ kickers wear numbers in the 90s; like overtime, the NFL gets this right and college gets this horribly wrong and I am only writing this to agitate people) and Vanderbilt has a defensive lineman wearing 97: 6’5”, 258-pound “senior” (read: redshirt junior) Lorenza Surgers, who’s played in six games over the last two seasons and notched two tackles in the LSU game last year.

And, after a rough opening round Friday, men’s golf got right on Saturday with an even-par second round to get into 10th place and in position to advance to the fourth round on Monday (the top 15 advance.) After Monday, the top 8 advance to a match play tournament to decide the championship.
