That’s right, distract yourselves from the series loss.

Good morning.

And yes, the headline is correct: your friendly blog manager is a year older today. After running five miles this morning, my joints certainly feel a year older.

Vanderbilt baseball dropped the series finale at Florida yesterday by a 5-3 score. The Sunday starter role continues to be in flux, with the latest entry, Chris McElvain, surrendering five earned runs in three innings of work, and the offense couldn’t come back from the early deficit.

The series loss drops the Commodores into a tie for first place in the East with Tennessee. This is annoying, because I liked things better when Tennessee was a basket case of a program and not a national contender. Vanderbilt also now finds itself just a game ahead of Florida in the conference standings, and a game behind Arkansas for the overall conference lead.
