Beat the flapjacks!

The less said about that Ole Piss series, the better. Except, of course, for the dominant return of Jack “Leits Out” Leiter, and, well, this strike zone...

Regardless, today is a new day, and also, pancakes.

Tuesday 6:30pm CT on SECN+ vs. The Florida International House of Pancakes Fightin’ Flapjacks

2021 Record: 20-30 (11-19 CUSA). It’s not really all that informative to do a deep dive on FIU’s schedule, as they haven’t really played anyone outside of their conference aside from midweek matchups, and also, their conference is not exactly great at baseball. The one thing of note is this: From April 23rd to May 2nd, FIU exclusively played against FAU (they tell me this is a different university, and the one different vowel confirms it). That’s right, for some reason, the scheduling gods had FIU and FAU play each other 8 times in a row. FIU went 2-6 in that stretch. Most recently, they split a 4 game set against Empty-S-U. While it may be notable that they won 2 games out of 4 against a university known to put 13 men on the field, I’ll not look too deeply into it.

Player to Watch: #26 Fr. 1B Adrian “Nelson” Figeuroa. Nelson is their only regular batting above .300, and at .326/.400/.427 with 12 2B and 2 HR, he’s the man to keep an eye on. I’d also watch out for #38 RS Jr. OF Justin “Farmer’s Only” Farmer, as he’s leading the Fightin’ Flapjacks in HR (8) and RBI (40).
