Coming off back-to-back seasons of three SEC wins, Vanderbilt basketball coach Jerry Stackhouse needed a spark for the program, and he got it on Wednesday night.

The Commodores got their 2022 recruiting class off to a blazing start with the additions of Lee Dort and Noah Shelby, teammates at the Greenhill School in Dallas. Dort is a 6’9”, 240-pound center who’s ranked #26 overall in the Class of 2022 by Rivals, and 59th overall in the 247 Sports composite — though 247’s own ratings give him the rare five-star rating, and consider him the 18th-best prospect in the class. Shelby is ranked 104th overall on 247 Sports and 145th on Rivals.
In other words, Jerry Stackhouse just landed a big-time recruit, along with another potentially useful player. Finally, we have something to feel good about, and it’s really too bad neither will be on campus until the fall of 2022.
