Good morning.
Optional Musical Accompaniment
Well, the SEC Tournament bracket is set — and Vanderbilt actually isn’t seeded last! Thanks to a little-mentioned provision, Vanderbilt got the 12-seed ahead of Texas A&M, who they’ll play Wednesday night, and it’s entirely because the Aggies didn’t play enough games — apparently if a team played fewer than two-thirds of the average number of games played by the other teams in the conference, they got seeded behind everyone else. Anyway, Vanderbilt still didn’t avoid Wednesday night (they would have if they had beaten Ole Miss on Saturday) but they get to wear home whites in that game. If they win, they’ll play Florida on Thursday.
Baseball beat UIC 4-2 on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep of the Flames and improve to 9-1 on the season. They’ll play one more home game against Memphis on Tuesday before going to Oklahoma State for their first road series of the season. Subscribe to ESPN+ if you haven’t already.
Soccer lost an exhibition 2-1 on Sunday, but it comes with the built-in excuse that they were literally playing a professional team.
Lacrosse beat High Point 17-13 on Sunday, improving to 4-2 on the season. Women’s tennis beat Missouri 4-2 (this counts as an SEC win for some reason), while men’s tennis lost 4-1 to Arkansas. Bowling finished ninth place in the Music City Classic.
