Week Five Series Preview: vs. The Missourah (spits) Tigers of the Big XII

SEC conference play started last week with the Dores taking 2 of three from the South Cackalacky Game Penises. Now, we’re back to OOC play for a week with the semi-annual SEC-Big XII Challenge.

2020 Record: 11-5. Similar to the Penises, the Big XII Tigers closed the shortened 2020 season strongly, with a 7 game winning streak. Two of those wins were against fellow Big XII foes Texas and Oklahoma, but the remaining 5 were against Western Illinois and Northern Illinois, respectively. The season was cancelled before they could play Eastern and Southern Illinois, apparently.

2021 Record: 8-12. Missourah opened 2021 dog-shit terrible, losing 3 of 4 to the Grand Canyon University Fightin’ Interwebs Bryce Drews and splitting a 4 game series with Omaha (which not only is an actual university, but apparently also has a baseball program). They then lost all 4 at the Adventures of Frisco County Jr. Collegiate Baseball Tournament (losing 2 to Dallas Baptist and one each to OU and Arizona). They then rebounded with a midweek win over the St. Lunatics, and 3 out of 4 against the Illinois State Fightin’ David Foster Wallace Faculty Softball Team. Last week, they played an SEC team, but one that’s not very good, and lost 2 of 3 to Kentucky.

Player to Watch: #21 RS Jr. Brandt “$1000 to Watch” Belk. The Pepperdine transfer batted .457/.544/.652 in 16 games last year. Let’s just say he’s not that good. This year, through 20 games, he’s slashing .340/.400/.472 with 2 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, and 7 RBI. Only one other Missourah regular—#12 Jr. INF Joshua “Day Man” Day—is batting over .300.

Confidence Level: High.
