Vanderbilt baseball spotted Lipscomb a 3-0 lead in the first three innings, then proceeded to score four runs in the bottom of the third on their way to a 11-3 win on Tuesday night. Christian Little struggled a bit, giving up three runs (two earned) and striking out three and walking two in three innings. Vanderbilt starts a three-game road series at Missouri on Thursday night.

And speaking of baseball, the Commodores picked up a commitment from J.D. Thompson, a left-handed pitcher from Rusk, Texas. Thompson has struck out 49 batters in 21.1 innings of work this season and will join the program in 2022.

Clark Lea talked recruiting a bit at his post-practice press conference yesterday, as the Hustler recaps.

“There are a lot of really talented football players within a five-hour radius of this campus,” Lea said. “And I think early on we can separate ourselves because of the access families will have to their sons as a part of this program…There are enough people within a five-hour radius that we should be able to field a really competitive team and that’s what makes recruiting local so appealing.”
