Good morning.
Optional Musical Accompaniment
Vanderbilt baseball dug itself too big of a hole to come back from on Sunday, falling behind 8-0 in the early innings before a late rally closed the final score to 10-6. Thomas Schultz had a rough outing, giving up six runs in an inning and two thirds. Still, Vanderbilt has to be happy to get out of Stillwater taking two of three and improving to 12-2 on the season.
Women’s tennis came from behind to take a 4-3 decision over Kentucky on Sunday, improving their SEC record to 4-2. Men’s tennis fell 5-2 to MTSU and dropped to 4-9 on the season.
Men’s golf opens the three-day Tigers Invitational today in Opelika, Alabama.
Oh yeah, and the NCAA Tournament bracket was announced on Sunday. Six SEC teams made it in: Florida, as a 7-seed, plays Virginia Tech in the first game on Friday. Also in the early Friday window, 3-seed Arkansas plays Colgate. At 3:30 on Friday, 5-seed Tennessee meets surprise Pac-12 champ Oregon State. (Go Beavers.)
On Saturday afternoon, 8-seed LSU meets St. Bonaventure, and 2-seed Alabama plays Iona, coached by Rick Pitino. Saturday night, 9-seed Missouri plays Oklahoma, a strange instance of the NCAA having two Big 8 teams meet in the first round. Oh yeah, and Ole Miss and Mississippi State are in the NIT.
