Vanderbilt opened the February edition of National Signing Day by getting a Letter of Intent from Michael Mincey, a linebacker prospect from Waycross, Georgia. Mincey is one of eight Vanderbilt signees from the Peach State in the 2021 class, easily the most of any state.

It’s easy to see what the coaching staff liked in Mincey, who committed to Derek Mason’s staff in September but waited until February to sign. He’s got pretty good size for a linebacker and looks to be explosive and quick to the ball, as well as being a hard hitter. He also hits an area of need for the Commodores, who are losing Dimitri Moore, Andre Mintze, and Kenny Hebert, all of whom started at least part-time at linebacker in 2020, and he’s one of just two signees at the position in the 2021 class.
