So, Vanderbilt comes off nearly getting its first SEC win of the season (and first of the Clark Lea era) and we’ll leave it at that for now, and gets the second of three winnable games in October as the Mississippi State Bulldogs come to Nashville for today’s 3 PM kickoff.

The last time we saw Mississippi State, it was the College World Series. The last time we saw Mississippi State’s football team, well, my wife went into labor but I heard we turned the ball over 5 times in a 24-17 loss. Here’s to hoping that we don’t commit five turnovers again today.

(Also, it will never not be hilarious to me that my children were born on 11.7 during a game against Mississippi State.)

The Mike Leach Clanga Pirates are going to throw the ball a ton, but let’s not ignore that Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers suffered a right shoulder sprain in last week’s 49-9 loss to Alabama, and he’s the only Bulldog quarterback who’s thrown a pass this season. We already know that Vanderbilt will be starting backup quarterback Mike Wright, though earlier in the week Clark Lea wouldn’t completely rule Ken Seals out.

Have fun, expect to win.
