Vanderbilt bowling opens the 2021-22 season this weekend at the Colonial Lanes Classic in Harahan, Louisiana. Fellow Southland Bowling League member Tulane is the host, and also competing are Alabama State, UAB, Florida A&M, Grambling, Jackson State, Lincoln Memorial, Louisiana Tech, Maryland-Eastern Shore, North Carolina A&T, Prairie View, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, and Texas Southern.
(Side note: Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin are no longer in the Southland Bowling League. Both schools left the Southland Conference for the WAC, and while the Southland Bowling League is technically a separate entity from the Southland Conference, the Southland Bowling League followed its parent conference’s move to expel them from the league.)
Anyway, Friday’s action starts at 9:30 AM CT and can be streamed on the Vanderbilt athletics YouTube channel. Vanderbilt opens the season ranked fourth nationally, after losing to eventual national champion Nebraska in the regional finals of last season’s NCAA Bowling Championship.
Hail Pinman.
