Jerry Stackhouse continues to build an impressive 2022 recruiting class, and that class got an addition on Sunday with 6’8”, 200-pound power forward Colin Smith picking the Commodores over Arizona State and Michigan.

Smith, a Dallas native, is playing his senior year at Compass Prep in Phoenix, after previously playing at St. Mark’s School of Texas. He’s rated as a four-star by both Rivals and the 247 Sports composite, with the former ranking him 73rd in the Class of 2022, while the latter ranks him 118th.
With the addition of Smith to previous commits Noah Shelby, Lee Dort, and Malik Dia, Vanderbilt’s 2022 recruiting class is now ranked 17th in the 247 Sports composite. This class is also giving the Vanderbilt program a needed dose of size, with three players 6’7” or taller coming in next season. Suddenly there’s reason to be excited about the future of Vanderbilt basketball in a way that there hasn’t been since Darius Garland got injured.
