Good morning.
Optional Musical Accompaniment
Vanderbilt basketball beat South Carolina 93-81 last night in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score looked — Vanderbilt led 93-70 at the last media timeout before laying off the gas — to get the Commodores’ first SEC win of the season. Max Evans had 29 points in the win, Statistical coming later today.
Women’s tennis took a 5-2 win over Miami yesterday, improving to 4-0 on the season and coming just a day after the Hurricanes upset Ole Miss. Men’s tennis is in action today against Belmont at noon CT in the opener of the spring season. You can watch the action on the live stream.
Chris Pierce is coming back to Vanderbilt for a fifth year, taking advantage of an NCAA rule allowing players affected by 2020 to have an extra year of eligibility:

Pierce led Vanderbilt in touchdown receptions last season with five, and assuming no transfers, this means that all five Vanderbilt players who caught at least 25 passes in 2020 will return in 2021.
