Good morning.
Optional Musical Accompaniment
It’s January 20 and you know what that means.
Vanderbilt’s basketball game against Texas A&M has been postponed due to COVID-19 issues in the basketball program, and in light of the cancellation, what are we doing? Well, we’re having another AoG Movie Night. This time, it’s a showing of Naked Gun on MLB Network at 8 PM CT. Why MLB Network is showing Naked Gun, we’ll never know. (Also, I don’t get MLB Network so I will not be joining the fun. Sorry.)
But speaking of baseball, the SEC released the schedule yesterday. Vanderbilt opens SEC play March 19 against South Carolina at Hawkins Field. We still don’t know if there will be a nonconference schedule.
Vanderbilt men’s tennis had its season opener (against Belmont) pushed back a day to January 31.
Men’s golf is ranked #3 in the country in the first Golfweek poll of the spring. The Commodores finished the fall ranked #1 in the country in Golfstat, though they’ve since lost John Augenstein, who elected to turn pro after the Masters.
New defensive line coach Inoke Breckterfield is excited for the opportunity at Vanderbilt. (In case you’re wondering, last year’s defensive line coach, Jovan Haye, is now coaching defensive ends. And while it hasn’t been mentioned, offensive line coach Peter Rossomando is still listed on the coaching staff, suggesting that he’s been retained by Clark Lea even if no announcement was made.)
ICYMI: Ravens DB coach Jesse Minter is rumored to be the new defensive coordinator.
