Anchor Drop, January 14, 2021: Women’s basketball hosts South Carolina

This will go well, I’m sure.

NCAA Womens Basketball: Tennessee at Vanderbilt Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning.

Optional Musical Accompaniment

Vanderbilt women’s basketball hosts South Carolina tonight at Memorial Gym. The Commodores played for the first time in 21 days on Sunday and got whacked, 80-56 by Alabama, and now get the Gamecocks, ranked #5 in the country and with an 8-1 record, 3-0 in the SEC. I am sure this will go very well, but anyway, if you care to watch, it’s at 7 PM CT on the SEC Network+.

Vanderbilt soccer defender Myra Konte was selected by the North Carolina Courage in the third round of the NWSL draft last night. More from the Hustler.

Women’s tennis added games against Lipscomb and ETSU to the spring schedule, giving them 21 matches. Their spring season opens on Sunday against Western Kentucky.

The Titans signed former Vanderbilt tight end Jared Pinkney to a futures contract, and it would be great if someone would explain to me what this means.

VandySports podcasted about basketball yesterday.

ICYMI: parlagi wrote about women’s bowling.
