Good morning.

Optional Musical Accompaniment

Oh sure, the football team and the baseball team each landed a new commitment on Monday, but we at Anchor of Gold know exactly why it is that you come to this site.

Vanderbilt bowling’s offseason program has officially begun amidst an abundance of safety precautions necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“At this point in time, we are just focused on managing today and tomorrow – things we can control – as we await SEC and NCAA decisions on the bigger picture,” Vanderbilt head coach John Williamson said. “Until we know if and when there will be a competitive fall schedule, no one can speak with any certainty.”

Former Commodores have harrowing stories about the infamous Spare Test and Stadium Stairs Run in which the coaches established specific markers each individual must achieve before joining full-fledged practice sessions.

Oh wow, I didn’t realize how hardcore the Vanderbilt bowling team was. Anyway, we don’t actually know when the season will start, but any excuse to lead the Anchor Drop with a photo of Pinman.

Oh yeah, back to the recruiting: football landed a commitment from Michael Mincey, a linebacker from Waycross, Georgia, who had offers from Kentucky, South Carolina, and Mississippi State. Baseball got a commitment from pitcher Brennan Seiber.

New edition of the Anchor Down podcast, wherein Bruno Reagan is on to talk this year’s Vanderbilt offensive line. Also, last night Joe Fisher talked to Derek Mason and Kyle Shurmur on the Commodore Hour. (I have yet to listen to either of these.)

As far as this week’s football game, Texas A&M released its first depth chart of the season. We assume Vanderbilt’s is coming today at lunch time at Derek Mason’s press conference, which I will recap to you while eating meat loaf, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Anchor Down.
