Optional Musical Accompaniment
Vanderbilt football is having its second scrimmage of the preseason today. (Also, I just noticed that Chad Bishop still has the by-line at vucommodores.com, so maybe that restructuring of athletic communications was a nothingburger.) Really, though, the most notable thing about that article is whatever this quote is:
“We try break these guys up so much not that we have 1s and 2s, but I’d rather call them goons and goblins,” Mason said. “That’s just the idea of having a two-deep of experienced guys who know how to communicate because if you don’t communicate it’s a fast way to get yourself beat.”
...is this a football team or a 1980s NES sidescroller? If the latter, Derek Mason really screwed up the quote; it’s Ghosts ‘n Goblins, not goons.
Also, ICYMI, Vanderbilt football home games will not have any fans in attendance until November at the earliest. “But Tom, how is that different from a normal season?” Yes, yes, I know, but this year there won’t be any opposing fans at Vanderbilt home football games, either.
