8/8 Dores in the Pros MLB Game Thread

Kyle Wright is on the mound today, as last night’s game was postponed. Phillies counter with Jake Arrieta. Should be a much better pitching match-up than yesterday’s promised to be.

Today’s Featured Game

Atlanta Braves vs. Philadelphia Phillies—5:05pm CT MLB Network

The Braves (9-4) have been a hot team early, save for Mike Soroka’s exploding achilles tendon. Dansby went 0-3 with a BB and a run (on a Freddy Freeman HR). Luckily for the Bravos, they didn’t need his bat, as they beat the Jays 4-3. The Phillies (3-4) are out of quarantine, and fresh off a 2-2 series split with the Yankees. Their offense, defense, and staring pitching are sound, but their bullpen is a dumpster fire of Karl Dorellian proportions.

Kyle Wright is on the mound for Atlanta. Vince Velasquez is on the mound for the Phillies. Neither have a penchant for getting out of the 3rd inning... so this one will be a bullpen special. Advantage Braves. (Record scratch) The Phillies give the ball to Jake Arrieta, who, while not the Jake Arrieta you remember from his Cubs days, is light years better than Vince Velasquez. This should be a good’n.

Other Games Featuring Former Dores

De2roit vs. Pittsburgh—3:05pm CT FS1

The Detroit Lions beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-13... wait... no... that was the score, but this was a baseball game. The Pirates can’t catch a break, as even when their offense absolutely explodes, their pitching implodes even harder. Reynolds went 3-5 with 3 R, and finally got his average over the Mendoza line for the season.

One of those two outs for the ‘stache was some hot Dore on Dore action:

Few pitchers had days they’ll want to remember in this one, but Carson Fulmer threw 1 IP scoreless with 1 K.

Cin City vs. Milwaukee—6:10pm CT MLB.TV

The Reds won 8-3, despite Curt Casali having an 0-5 night.

Houston vs. Oakland—8:10pm CT MLB.TV

The A’s continued their hot streak, moving to 10-4 on the season. Tony Kemp got the start at 2nd, and went 1-2 with 3 BBs, raising his OBP to .500.

Oh, and he played the hell out of second base.

San Fransisky Garlic Fries vs. LA Dodgers—8:10pm CT MLB Network

The Garlic Fries lost 7-2. Yaz went 1-4 with a run. Crazy Legs Selman threw 2 IP scoreless, with 3 Ks. Both have had excellent seasons thus far.
