As many of you know, Vanderbilt led the nation with a whopping 15 Diamond Dore alums playing at the Major League level last year, and are likely to finish around that number in 2020 (even with David Price opting out for health and family reasons). In fact, it is safe to assume that number might even be higher, with rosters expanding, and many who are currently in the high minors being on the traveling squad portion of the 60 man roster (as minor league baseball just ain’t happening in 2020).
As such, as we are all in dire need of sports—and Vanderbilt sports in particular—I plan to run game threads for a “Dores in the Pros” series focusing on Vanderbilt alumni in MLB.
*Note: Here is a good link to keep tabs on which Dores are at which level of the pros, and for which organizations.
While we don’t know with 100% certainty every single Dore who will open the season this Friday on opening day rosters, we do know that Sonny Gray, for instance, has been chosen to be the Cincinnati Reds Opening Day starter.
In short, I do this stuff for you guys, so I wanted to see how you would like me to format this.
Option 1: Targeted MLB Game Threads Daily (in which we focus on one game in which a Vanderbilt alum will be starting—for instance, Reds vs. Tigers this Friday featuring Sonny Gray as Cin City’s starting pitcher). In this option, I will watch this game, and comment mostly on it, while occasionally flipping around to other games. Commenters will be able to do the same, or comment on other games Vanderbilt alums are in.
Option 2: Open MLB Game Threads Daily (in which you can talk about whatever, but there will be no central focus or North Star by which to guide our comments).
