Good morning.

We’re now 93 days away from Vanderbilt football’s season opener against Mercer. #93 for Vanderbilt is junior defensive lineman Tolu Thomas-Ailara, a walk-on who didn’t play after joining the team last season.

Optional Musical Accompaniment

At 7:00 PM tonight, Vanderbilt is re-airing the greatest moment in Vanderbilt athletics history. That’s right: the 2018 bowling national championship. Pinman commands you to watch, and you will listen to Pinman.

Also, six bowlers picked up Southland Conference All-Academic honors. Men’s golf coach Scott Limbaugh is the Southeast Region Coach of the Year. And three baseball players were selected as Collegiate Baseball All-Americans for the extremely short 2020 season.

Chris Lee podcasted with D1 Baseball’s David Seifert.

College Football News previewed Vanderbilt football yesterday.

ICYMI: CB Alan “Taco” Wright committed to Vanderbilt football.

And, let’s see how the whole “college football coaches try to let their players express themselves while also not pissing off the Boomer portion of the fan base” is going and... oh... oh, no.

I mean, you were already asking them to come back to campus for “voluntary” workouts in the middle of a global pandemic.

Updated: When are sports coming back?

No firm date yet, but the NBA is set to approve a plan to return later this morning. The plan would call for 22 teams to play in Orlando, eight games to finish the regular season, and then the playoffs. If the NBA comes back before MLB starts, well...

...it’s because MLB is rejecting the players’ proposal to play 114 games and not making a counteroffer. Let me be clear: this is because a shockingly large percentage of MLB owners view owning an MLB team more like a real estate investment than like owning a baseball team.

Actual Sports on TV today

ESPN2 is showing something called the Collegiate Summer Baseball Invitational, with two games tonight starting at 6:00 PM CT. No, I don’t know, either.

The only other sports today would be your daily KBO replay at 1:00 PM CT, also on ESPN2, between the Lotte Giants and the Kia Tigers.
