Good morning.
We are 94 days away from Vanderbilt’s September 5 season opener against Mercer. #94 for the Commodores is redshirt junior defensive lineman Rutger Reitmaier. Reitmaier, a former four-star recruit from nearby Lipscomb Academy, had 14 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and half a sack last season for Vanderbilt.
Optional Musical Accompaniment
On Tuesday, Vanderbilt football picked up a commitment from Ezra McAllister, a wide receiver prospect from Marshall, Michigan. He’s ranked as a three-star prospect in the 247 Sports composite.
Updated: When are sports returning?
So, the NBA has a proposal out that would have the Finals ending on October 12, with the draft and free agency to follow. So the 2020-21 season would start... when, exactly? Also, the 22-team return would screw over a young team like the Atlanta Hawks.
And in MLB... well, it’s never a good sign when a team owner (in this case, Cubs owner Tom Ricketts) is pissing and moaning about how fans don’t understand that the team puts most of its revenue back into the team. Meanwhile, here’s another breakdown of the holdup.
Actual Sports on TV
ESPN3 is airing something called the U.S. Men’s Pro Tennis Series starting at 7:00 AM CT. All right, I have no idea what that is. Your daily Korean baseball replay airs on ESPN2 at 1:00 PM CT, and it’s between the Kiwoom Heroes and the Hanwha Eagles. At 1:30 PM CT on FS2, German soccer! Werder Bremen vs. Eintracht Frankfurt!
And, last but not least, at 9:00 PM CT on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes... a Costa Rican soccer match between Deportivo Saprissa and Jicaral. If Costa Rican soccer is not an AoG meme by the end of this week, I will be severely disappointed.
