Good morning.
We are now 82 days away from Vanderbilt football’s scheduled season opener against Mercer. (Big emphasis on “scheduled,” what with the COVID cases spiking again.) There is no #82 on the roster and there hasn’t been since Turner Cockrell’s untimely death in 2018.
Optional Musical Accompaniment
Vanderbilt baseball second baseman Harrison Ray wasn’t drafted in last week’s MLB Draft, but on Sunday he signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. Those are capped at $20,000 this year because reasons and I renew my objections to MLB owners from yesterday’s post.
From Astros blog Climbing Tal’s Hill: Get to Know Third-Round Pick Tyler Brown. Brown was the Astros’ first pick in the 2020 draft because, again, fuck you, MLB. (That should lead to some interesting comments.)
Former Vanderbilt golfer Luke List won the Korn Ferry Tour’s Challenge at TPC Sawgrass with a 3-under par 67 on Sunday.
Updated: When are sports coming back?
Well, the PGA Tour is already back, with Daniel Berger winning the Colonial yesterday in a playoff.
Meanwhile, this is extremely gross, Ohio State.
