Three more VandyBoys went off the board on the second day of the MLB Draft.

Good morning.

We’re now 85 days away from Vanderbilt football’s season opener against Mercer. #85 for Vanderbilt is tight end Joel DeCoursey. The redshirt freshman from Zionsville, Indiana, did not play in 2019.

Optional Musical Accompaniment

Three more Vanderbilt baseball players were selected on the second, final day of the MLB Draft. Tyler Brown went off the board first, going to the Houston Astros in the third round. Brown was followed by Jake Eder to the Florida Marlins (excuse me, Miami) in the fourth round. And with six picks left in the draft, Mason Hickman went to the Cleveland Indians.

And there’s your Vanderbilt news for the day.

Update: When are sports coming back?

I guess MLB and its Players’ Association took a couple of days off hammering out the details of MLB’s return for the draft, but we do have something of an update on the NBA’s format: 14 of the 22 teams that will play in Orlando will be done within 53 days. Also, camps will begin around July 9-11.

Actual Sports on TV

More golf! Though less than yesterday; today the Golf Channel is just picking up three hours of the Colonial (excuse me, the Charles Schwab Challenge) from Fort Worth, with live television running from 3-6 PM CT.

Anyway, the other live sporting event on today is a German soccer match between TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (an actual team name) and RB Leipzig on FS2 at 1:30 PM CT. As a side note: does anybody even drink RedBull any more and how do they sponsor all these soccer teams?
