Good morning.
Our annual tradition begins today. Today marks 99 days until Vanderbilt football’s scheduled season opener against Mercer. (Obviously, that’s up in the air at the moment, but let’s just assume for now.)
Normally, I’d review the player wearing the jersey number, but at the present time there isn’t one — the freshmen haven’t been assigned jersey numbers yet, and last year’s #99, Stone Edwards, appears to have left the program (I’m assuming here because he’s not listed on the roster.)
Moving on: Greg Arias at SI has an article about whether incoming basketball transfer Issac McBride will get a waiver to play next season, and Chris Lee had recent Jerry Stackhouse dunking victim Jeff Goodman on his podcast.
Update: When Are Sports Coming Back?
A good question. Jeff Passan discusses whether MLB’s latest proposal to have a season in 2020 is the first step or the beginning of the end. Meanwhile, minor league baseball probably ain’t happening, sorry. The NBA seems to be on a timetable to return in July.
(Meanwhile, uh, holy shit do we need sports to come back, but I’m not discussing that in this space.)
Actual Sports on TV
There is your tape-delayed KBO game between the kt wiz and Kiwoom Heroes (1:00 PM CT, ESPN2), and there is a Bundesliga match between Freiburg and Bayer Leverkusen (1:30 PM CT, FS2.)
