Well, that wasn’t ideal.
Vanderbilt’s eight-game winning streak ended on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to Hawaii in the second game of the three-game weekend series. That leaves the Commodores with a 9-3 record. Of course, yesterday’s loss comes with an asterisk with Kumar Rocker being a late scratch due to “soreness.” In practical terms, this was Tim Corbin deciding not to risk a worse injury to win a non-conference game at the end of February. Also, Rocker’s absence does not explain the offense only managing a single run.
So, to Sunday we go, and it’s Jake Eder on the mound for Vanderbilt as they look to take the series. First pitch is scheduled for noon CT on the SEC Network+. And, as February has turned to March, so, too, has the weather: game time temperature is expected to be in the 60s. This is baseball weather.
