Anchor Drop, December 4, 2020: The most insane week ever

Yeah, it’s really hard to think of another week like this.

Good morning.

Optional Musical Accompaniment

Can anybody even remember a week like this?

On Saturday, Sarah Fuller kicked for Vanderbilt, in a 41-0 loss to Missouri. On Sunday, Derek Mason was fired.

On Monday, interim coach Todd Fitch made his first appearance on the Commodore Hour with Joe Fisher, during which listeners openly questioned the host’s health as he slurred his words and the show was cut off after about 40 minutes and never uploaded as a podcast. Also, the basketball team shut down activities indefinitely.

On Tuesday, Fitch said at his press conference that a couple of players had opted out and also that Sarah Fuller would be the kicker again on Saturday at Georgia. Bruno Reagan then said on the Midday 180 that there had been six or seven additional opt-outs, with the implication that they were related to Sarah Fuller continuing to be the kicker.

And then yesterday, Joe Fisher announced his resignation as Vanderbilt’s radio play-by-play commentator and that he would be checking himself into rehab — basically an admission that he had done the Coaches’ Show drunk on Monday. Also, Andrew got an email from a Temple blogger who knows Nadia Harvin thanking him for his article.

Any predictions on what will happen today?

I wrote a scathing post about Vanderbilt coaching candidate Will Healy yesterday and it seems that People Who Know Things think differently.
