The Vanderbilt Commodores close out their nonconference schedule this afternoon with a visit from the Alcorn State Braves, and to say that the nonconference schedule hasn’t gone swimmingly would be an understatement: Vanderbilt is 3-2 but didn’t really look impressive in any of the three wins, and laid a turd in the first half of a home loss to Richmond, then dropped an even bigger turd in the second half the last time out in an 85-65 loss to Davidson.
Anyway, Vanderbilt is favored today against Alcorn State, an 0-3 team that hasn’t kept it within 33 points in any of the three losses, and then if Ken Pomeroy’s algorithm is to be believed, the Commodores won’t be favored again for the rest of the season and I can’t say I disagree. Progress! Enjoy the likely win today, because there probably won’t be too many more after this. Anchor Down.
