Good morning.
Optional Musical Accompaniment
The Vanderbilt women’s basketball team beat VCU 90-81 on Thursday behind 29 points from Koi Love (who is, in fact, very good) and 18 from Brylee Bartram. That was the Commodores’ third win in a row, and this one was over a team that won 20 games last season. They’ll play again on Sunday against Gardner-Webb.
Meanwhile, the men’s team has added a nonconference game. They will host Alcorn State at 3 PM CT on the 27th, three days before the SEC opener. This is probably a good idea after the team lost four games to a COVID outbreak.
The men’s golf team announced its spring schedule, which they will open on February 12.
Andre Mintze declared for the NFL Draft, which in most years would have been obvious what with him being a fifth-year senior, but he did have the option of returning to Vanderbilt.
Oh, and the women’s bowling team picked up a new commitment. Hail Pinman.
super excited to announce i have committed to Vanderbilt University to continue my education & bowling career. thank you to everyone who helped me get here!! #anchordown pic.twitter.com/6FtlMDcm6y

(Also, Hardin County High School in Savannah has won seven straight state titles in women’s bowling? Who knew?)
