Ah, yes, time for the annual matchup between Woody Widenhofer’s former employers. The Vanderbilt Commodores are still in search of their first win of the season and it’s going to be an uphill battle against the Missouri Tigers, who are a 14-point favorite in this game at Faurot Field. This being Missouri in November, the weather should actually be fairly decent: sunny and 48 degrees at kickoff, warming up to the mid-50s in the afternoon.
Missouri was somehow Vanderbilt’s most recent SEC win, a 21-14 decision at Vanderbilt Stadium last season in which Derek Mason went with walk-on Mo Hasan as his starting quarterback in place of regular starter Riley Neal, only to see Hasan lost to a concussion in the second half and Neal have to come on in relief anyway. This time around, Vanderbilt has few questions about who its starting quarterback will be (Ken Seals), but a lot of questions revolving around who will handle kicking duties. Will it be Sarah Fuller, the goalkeeper for the women’s soccer team who made the trip? Will Vanderbilt even have an extra point or field goal opportunity?
Have fun, expect to win, Anchor Down.
